Nature Drawing and Design Plate XII - 5/5 - Inking
Watch as I complete the master copy of Plate XII from Nature Drawing and Design. During 7 video sessions (4h23 total), I work through the full inking process using traditional tools like the T-square, triangle, and ruling pen. I share the difficulties I encounter and how I adapt as I move through each section of the plate.

In this one, I draw the bottom ornament of Plate XII from Nature Drawing and Design. During 3 video sessions (1h56 total), I use reference points from my grid to plan the curves, complete the left side, and mirror it onto the right before refining the final lines.

Today in the atelier, I begin the master copy of Plate XII from Nature Drawing and Design. During 1 video session (53 minutes), I show the materials I’m using, set up my drawing space, and draw the frames of the ornaments at the correct aspect ratio using my compass.
Nature Drawing and Design Plate XI - 4/4 - Inking and Finishing
Sit with me as I continue and complete the inking of Plate XI from Nature Drawing and Design. During 5 video sessions (2h51 total), I work through the different elements of the design—starting with warmups, inking the smaller flowers, then moving on to the main flower and final details to finish the plate.
Nature Drawing and Design Plate XI - 3/4 - Inking Setup and Starting to Ink
This time, I begin the inking phase of Plate XI from Nature Drawing and Design. During 1 video session (57 minutes), I go over my inking setup and tools, do some warmups, and start inking the plate—working on straight lines, circle arcs, and lettering using a ruling pen and a dip pen.
Nature Drawing and Design Plate XI - 2/4 - Graphite Underdrawing
Join me as I continue the master copy of Plate XI from Nature Drawing and Design. During 5 video sessions (2h30 total), I develop the graphite underdrawing by copying each flower with care, refining the construction, and making small corrections along the way. I also share some thoughts on feeling rusty and how I work through it.
Nature Drawing and Design Plate XI - 1/4 - Setting Up and Beginning the Copy
In the atelier today, I begin a master copy of an Art Nouveau plate from Nature Drawing and Design. During 1 video session (53 minutes), I set up my reference and workspace, draw a custom grid over the original design, and replicate it on my paper using geometric construction—laying the foundation for an accurate copy.
