A Year of Birds and Flowers - In Progress - Designing Geometrical Frames
Follow my process for designing full size geometrical frames based upon my previous sketches. During 1 session (1h43 total) I talk you through my setup and process using traditional tools and geometrical knowledge to construct accurate design templates I will be able to reuse through this illustration project.

A Year of Birds and Flowers - In Progress - The Sketching Phase
Join me at the very beginning of the creative process, as I sketch ideas for a new Art Nouveau inspired Birds illustration series. During 6 sessions (6h37 total), I experiment with composition and frames, starting with small thumbnails and gradually expanding the ideas into more defined sketches. I use photo references and incorporate inspiration from Mucha’s designs, laying the foundation for my calendar A Year of Birds and Flowers.

Patientia et Labore - 6/6 - Completing the Painting
As I continue painting Patientia et Labore, I focus on tracing the final lines and finishing the piece on time. During 2 video sessions (4h31 total), I outline the hand and compass with a ruling pen and dip pen, adjust line weight using different tools, and add lighter watercolour washes for the floral background—completing the painting just before the deadline.

Patientia et Labore - 5/6 - Painting the Letters
Watch as I begin painting Patientia et Labore—starting with tests, colour mixing, and the challenging lettering. During 2 video sessions (3h56 total), I experiment with watercolour and traditional tools like a dip pen and ruling pen. After a mistake, I start over and continue by painting directly onto the final paper using a light table.

Patientia et Labore - 4/6 - Tracing the Design
Today in the atelier, I refine the lettering and floral design for Patientia et Labore before transferring everything to watercolour paper. During 1 video session (2h12), I make small corrections to improve the composition—adjusting tangents and awkward overlaps—then trace the full illustration in preparation for painting.

Patientia et Labore - 3/6 - Designing the Ornaments
Learn with me while I design the floral ornaments for the background of Patientia et Labore. During 3 video sessions (3h31 total), I refine the hand, explore ornament gestures with tracing paper, and develop the Art Nouveau-inspired floral elements using tools like a light table, French curves, and a circle template—adjusting the composition as I go.

Patientia et Labore - 2/6 - Drawing the Hand and Lettering
Follow along as I continue developing Patientia et Labore, my original Art Nouveau-inspired watercolour. During 1 video session (1h55), I finish drawing the hand—modifying the fingers while working from both photo reference and from life—and design the lettering.

Patientia et Labore - 1/6 - Drawing the Grid and Blocking In
Join me as I begin the drawing for my original illustration Patientia et Labore. During 1 video session (1h27), I start from my thumbnail sketch, draw the frame at the correct aspect ratio, create a grid to enlarge the composition, and block in the hand using a photo reference of my own hand.

Nature Drawing and Design Plate XII - 5/5 - Inking
Watch as I complete the master copy of Plate XII from Nature Drawing and Design. During 7 video sessions (4h23 total), I work through the full inking process using traditional tools like the T-square, triangle, and ruling pen. I share the difficulties I encounter and how I adapt as I move through each section of the plate.
