This is a special week in my art residency: Juliette Aristides is coming to the Village for a 5 days artistic retreat, the Inner and Outer Landscape. Learning from her in person is an incredible opportunity, and my takeaways from this week go beyond art.

My fifth week at New Masters Village is all about preparation. Next week, the Village hosts Juliette Aristides' art retreat, The Inner and Outer Landscape, so the priority is getting everything ready to receive students, run classes and create an unforgettable experience.

On my fourth week at the Village, I am starting to feel the effects of being surrounded by artists, in an environment designed around art. I am getting back to my studies with a new figure drawing class, practicing plein air sketching, portrait, life drawing, and making good progress on my design project.

My third week at New Masters Village marks the real start of my artistic project. It is time to get sketching and composing for my sign designs based on the local fauna and flora, but those first marks are always the most difficult part of my creative process.

This second week of my art residency at New Masters Village brought an unexpected (and very exciting) opportunity... It was filled with botanical watercolor paintings of local plants, and a very American day with lots of donkeys on Saturday at BurroFest!

I just arrived at New Masters Village for a new two months artistic residency, and I am starting a vlog series to share this experience with you: my daily life at the Village, the art I'm making here, and the artistic project that will be my main focus during this residency.

I am very particular with the tools I use, even on the go: they don't only have to be convenient, but also beautiful and enjoyable to use. In this video, I share my curated sketching kit to draw and paint on location with watercolor and gouache.

At the end of May, I helped organize an amazing on location sketching workshop with Glenn Vilppu who came to Lyon. In just 7 days, this workshop I was initially so stressed about made me enjoy sketching again!

This month has been marked by creative shifts, and the return of an old passion. In this video, I share everything I have been working on and creating in April: from failed paintings to starting a botanical watercolor sketchbook, and the unexpected return of fiber crafts.

In this special edition Art Journal, I share everything I did during my artistic residency at New Masters Village. Being invited to stay as the first resident artist was an honour, and the three months I spent in Colorado turned out to be some of the most transformative of my artistic journey.
